| Susannah Pie at one year old
We started off with the dress - the one I wore for my one year pictures. You may remember we took pictures of her wearing it at seven months because she was growing so fast I didn't know if she would fit it at one year, but it doesn't appear that she actually grew that much in the last five months... compare to the older picture below.
Me on the left wearing the dress at one year - Susannah on the right at seven months.
This is her "yucky" face. Ever since I first said "Nooo! Yucky, Susannah!" and made a face when she picked up something gross, she's always laughed and tried to imitate me. The result? Now she picks up yucky things just so I'll make the face and say "yucky." Not one of my more successful mom moments.

Susannah just can't believe how hilarious Mommy is. I love this sequence - she really doubled over because she was laughing so hard.
Flower girl.
How embarrassing! Mommy's kissing me!
I like to call this her "coy look." :)
Waving at the camera - cutest wave ever.
I asked her to point at her belly button...
The pretty shoes from Auntie Stephanie that she has, sadly, outgrown.
"Like this, Mommy?"
"Yeah, he's my teddy bear. He's pretty neat."
The baby doll she got for her birthday - her first doll.
Giving her doll kisses... obviously!
"Mommy's so silly!"
Beautiful face.

| Well, xanga won't let me upload anymore pictures this month, so if you want to see Susannah's birthday pictures this month - visit facebook. :) Susannah's first birthday pics. Yay! | | |
| Some pictures of the small, cupcake celebration we had on Susannah's actual birthday - August 20. Pictures from her party will follow soon.
Her cupcake with one candle. Excited - but not about the cupcake or the candle - she's pretty clueless about what's happening.
Can I touch it? Seriously - she really tried - to touch the flame, that is, several times.
Soooo... what you want me to do?
When we FINALLY convinced her to dip the tiniest tips of her fingers in the icing, she immediately looked at her fingers in confusion and held them out to David - "Daddy! Clean them!"
But she did like the way it tasted - when David fed her.
Susannah loves water - we finally bought her her own little pool - $5 at HEB. Not a bad investment. This was her first time in it.
Totally unafraid of water.
We took this picture, because as I was wrapping her in this towel after her bath, I remembered - this is the towel David bought me - maybe the first thing he ever bought me - for a housewarming gift when we moved into our apartment, before we were even officially dating.... and now we're wrapping our baby girl in it.
Fun in the sun - with Mommy's glasses.
When Susannah was a little baby she LOVED swinging. Suddenly, she hates it - is terrified of it - we can't convince her to swing, and if we try there are many tears. This picture is her very nervous face right before she started crying and reaching for me when I tried to get her to swing at the park with my friend Charity and her baby Isabella.
So my mom and dad bought Susannah her own swing for her birthday and we tried again.
Very nervous...
About to meltdown - she refused to swing for more than 30 seconds... so weird. She does love to play at parks, though.
One of my very favorite expressions - so amazingly cute!
Such a pretty girl - getting so big.
Sooo happy to be playing.
Fun with mommy.
My pretty baby bear wearing one of her birthday dresses from Auntie Stephanie at church on Sunday. She LOVEs all these toys in the nursery. I will make some more coherent/themed posts in the future. Just wanted to catch up on some pics of our sweet, growing girl.

*GASP* I'm updating my xanga! Oh, dear. I don't suppose many people even check here anymore since I took like a 5 month sabbatical from xanga, but in case there are any curious ones, I haven't forgotten xanga. I always intended to come back, and here I am. Some pictures from our trip to Oklahoma, back at the begining of August.
Sleepy pie.
Me and my dear friend, Janna.
This place played a big part in our trip.
Me and my baby bear.
Sweet face.
Sweet friends.
Awesome old building.
In our hotel room - morning hair on the baby bear.
Fun with a mirror.
David and I needed a break from driving - she was more than willing.
Visiting my old almost-alma-mater - John Brown University.
Playing peek-a-boo with Janna.

Home again. I'm planning more updates soon - for REAL soon. No kidding. :) LOTS has happened - which is why I haven't had time for xanga and facebook and all. But it's also why I need to catch up. Planning to post before and after pics of the house we're living in right now. Stay tuned.
| Growing, changing, experiencing... Susannah at seven months. Look alike?
On the left is me, 24 years ago at one year old, and Susannah's on the right at seven months old wearing the same dress. Yes, the dress looks a little bit more worn on Susannah - after all, it's 24 years old! The dress is still a bit big on her (although not much considering she's five months younger than I was when I wore it!) so we will try pictures again when she's a little older. Some of my favorite shots of her in the dress:
One of my very favorites! Susannah doing what's become her signature "wave" - she's probably just excited, but everyone thinks she's waving at them to say "hi." She has charmed her way into the hearts of many strangers this way. Such a sweet baby girl.
My absolute favorite! Susannah's sweet, wrinkly-nosed laugh - something she just started doing this month that wins the hearts of strangers, friends and especially her aunts.
A tired Pie after her exhausting photo shoot. First food
Susannah's first taste of rice cereal left a messy bib (and hands and mouth and chair and legs), but not a very full tummy.
Doesn't look like much cereal, but that's about how much we started with. Doesn't look too appetizing - but considering it's unappealing look/smell she ate pretty good.
She's not trying to show her pretty bib to the camera - she's trying to remove it in protest. The prettiest baby
(she thinks I'm trying to play peek-a-boo with her by hiding behind the camera so she's trying to look behind the camera to find me... could she be any cuter?)
Daddy and Susannah
Her cute thumb-sucking - one of her biggest acheivements of the last couple of months and now her favorite occupation. There's no way I could stop her if I wanted to (and I don't!) - she looks way too cute sucking her thumb.
Daddy adores his girl. Stay-cation David took off work last week (which was spring break for UH) and, despite both David and I being sick and having no money for a vacation, we managed to do some pretty fun stuff - like going to Old Town Spring (where you don't have to spend money), the beach and the park several times.
In Old Town Spring we found a cool Texas store and tried a pink cowboy hat on Susannah, who did not seem to care for it.
The store owner helped us find these more Susannah-sized hats, and even Susannah seemed to like them more. We couldn't afford the hat, but when I went to pay for a 33-cent post card, the sweet store owner gave it to us for free! What a blessing. Susannah in the basket
One of her new favorite places - we just have to watch her carefully to make sure she doesn't tip it over.
A sleepy Pie. | | |
